The fountain was removed from the Civic Centre site to make way for the new Civic Centre and was sent to Castlemain in Victoria for refurbishment and for a mould for another fountain.

In 2003 the Council made a move to locate the fountain back at the Victory Memorial Gardens to be located back as per the original award winning plans back in 1928..
