An-Najjariyah

An-Najjariyah (Arabic: النجارية) is a municipality in the Sidon District in the governorate of South Lebanon, the Republic Of Lebanon. A small part of the Zahrani River that passes through South Lebanon also passes through the north part of Al-Najjariyeh. The village also has a mosque which is the most important in the village.

History

In 1875, in the late Ottoman era, Victor Guérin described it: "Nedjarieh [...] is a fairly considerable farm, worked by Maronites and "schismatic Greeks", and which has replaced an ancient agricultural establishment, as is proved by cisterns and presses hewn in the rock. Fig, olive and mulberry trees surround it.
