Bereść

Bereść [ˈbɛrɛɕt͡ɕ] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Grabowiec, within Zamość County, Lublin Voivodeship, in eastern Poland. It lies approximately 27 kilometres (17 mi) east of Zamość and 89 km (55 mi) south-east of the regional capital Lublin.

Village first mentioned in 1394, when it became part of the parish in Grabowiec. In 1921, before WW2 there were 80 houses and 577 citizens. 21 March 1944 polish underground army AK under the command of Józef Smiech "Ciąga" attacked Ukrainian army stationed in Bereść, during the attack village was totally destroyed by fire.
