Birjhora Mahavidyalaya

Birjhora Mahavidyalaya, also known as Birjhora Science College, is a co-educational science college. It was established in 1986 in Bongaigaon, Assam, India.

About

Birjhora Mahavidyalaya was initially started by a sponsoring committee headed by Sri P.B. Chaudhury, MLA. With the active support of the local community, the college was taken over by the state's Ministry of Education under the deficit Grand-in-Aids system, and the college was provincialized in December 2005.

The college is affiliated with Gauhati University and has been awarded with a B++-grade certification by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

Courses

Apart from the traditional degree courses, the college also offers several courses of study in information technology (IT). Birjhora Mahavidyalaya offers three-year Bachelor of Science (BSc) major and general courses, a three-year vocational course in IT, a one-year certificate course IT, a post-graduate diploma in computer application (PGDCA), and a certificate course in mushroom cultivation. The college offers degrees in the major subjects of physics, chemistry, mathematics, botany, zoology, and statistics, and the general subjects of English, botany, chemistry, economics, mathematics, physics, statistics, zoology, and IT. Courses in various disciplines are also offered through the Indira Gandhi Open University (IGNOU) Study Centre, the Institute of Distance Learning (IDOL) at Guhati University, and Krisha Kanta Handique State Open University (KKHSOU).
