Butryny

Butryny [buˈtrɨnɨ] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Purda, within Olsztyn County, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in northern Poland. It lies approximately 15 kilometres (9 mi) south-west of Purda and 21 km (13 mi) south of the regional capital Olsztyn. It is located within the historic region of Warmia

The historic sights of Butryny include the Saint James' church, dating back to the 17th century, typical Warmian old wayside shrines and a Catholic cemetery.

The village was founded in 1412. Polish poet and bishop Ignacy Krasicki visited Butryny in 1767 and 1779.
