Caripi River (Maracanã)
The Caripi River (Portuguese: Rio Caripi) is a river of the state of Pará, Brazil. It is a left tributary of the Maracanã River.
Course
The Caripi River is the main tributary of the Maracanã River, which it enters from the left. The lower reaches of the river are protected by the 30,179 hectares (74,570 acres) Maracanã Marine Extractive Reserve, created in 2002.
Environment
The river is mainly surrounded by forest. The region has a relatively low population, with 43 people per square kilometer. The average temperature is 24 °C (75 °F). The hottest month is November, with 24 °C (75 °F) and the coldest month is March, with 22 °C (72 °F). Average annual rainfall is 2,830 millimetres (111 in). The wettest month is March, with 655 millimetres (25.8 in) and the driest month is October with 9 millimetres (0.35 in).
