New Kantharaj Urs Road is one of the main avenues in Mysore city, Karnataka state, India.
It is named after M. Kantharaj Urs, an Indian royal, civil servant, and administrator who served as the 20th Chief administrator of Kingdom of Mysore from 1918 to 1922. He was born in the Maddur Urs branch of the Kalale Wadiyar dynasty. His older sister was Maharani Kempananjammanni Devi who was the Queen of Kingdom of Mysore i.e., wife of Maharaja Chamarajendra Wadiyar X and the mother of Maharaja Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV. He married his niece Princess Jayalakshami Amanni, the eldest daughter of his sister Maharani Kempananjammani Devi.
The Road starts at Nanju Malige and terminates near Outer Ring Road covering the localities of Laxmipuram, Krishnamurthypuram, K. G. Koppal, Kuvempunagar, T. K. Layout, Sharadadevinagar, Nivedhithanagar. Vedanta Hemmige Circle, Karnataka State Dr. Gangubhai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University, Ballal Circle, Khadi Gramodyog Bhavan, Rama Mandir, Apollo Hospital, Bandantamma Kalamma Temple,, Akshaya Bhandar, JSS Law College, Mysore Cartoonists Assn, Vijaya Bank Circle are some important landmarks.
New Kantharaj Urs Road is a 80 Feet Road which often face Vehicle Praking issues and is proposed to get extended further so that it offers better connectivity in the region which is expected to development prospects to neighbouring localities and provide these communities to reduce the travel time for residents of more than 200 residential layouts to reach various parts of the city.
This road is one of the few Avenues in Mysore to get shortlisted for dedicated Bicycle lanes by Mysore City Corporation. Recently people agitated for repair of this Road.
