2012年10月26日、長野県長野市戸隠(とがくし)にある鏡池の紅葉。
雲間から出た太陽に照らされた瞬間、紅葉が鮮やかに輝いていました。

以前、白樺湖周辺で車内から交通案内標識を見ていると、そこに「女神湖 ～km」という表記と、その下に「Megamiko-lake ～km」と英語表記がありました。
“Lake”と同じ意味の”湖”が名前の中に入っていても敢えてMegamiko-lakeと書く。
その大胆な翻訳に訳者の思い切りの良さを感じました。
