File:20230208 Gold Ingot.jpg
This is one of two gold ingots excavated from the tomb of Prince Zhuang of Liang, located in Zhongxiang City, Hubei Province. Prince Zhuang of Liang was a member of the Ming dynasty.
The inscription on the ingot states that the ingot was made from gold purchased at the western ocean in the 17th year of the Yongle Emperor (1419). This indicates that the gold used to cast the ingot was purchased by the Chinese fleet led by Admiral Zheng He during their fifth voyage to the western ocean.
