On several occasions I attempted to cover the North Berwick branch in Scotland but failed to cover it during the years when I "cleared off" virtually the whole of the UK passenger rail network. But on 29 March 1986, I finally got there!
The short branch from Drem has been single track for many years seeing through trains to and from Edinburgh and beyond. Seen here is class 101 Metropolitan Cammell (Met-Cam) 3-car set comprising of 51241, 59047 & 53176. At the time British Rail Scottish Region had most of their DMU fleet in pre-formed sets, this one being 101.315. Train is the 10:04 to Edinburgh Waverley.
