File:Alkborough Turf Maze.jpg
This is a scan of a transparency which I took in the 1970s. It has been slightly cleaned-up in Photoshop. It shows "Julian's Bower", the turf maze at Alkborough in North Lincolnshire, England, which overlooks the "Confluence of the Rivers" (where the rivers Trent and Ouse meet to become the River Humber).
Alkborough Flats, the area of arable farmland in the valley below the maze, is to become an intertidal habitat from the end of 2006: it will allowed to flood periodically to encourage biodiversity and reduce pressure on flood defences elsewhere.
