Following the capture of Valerian by the Persian army, one of Valerian's generals serving in Illyricum, Cornelius Publius Caius Regalianus, seized power. All of Regalianus' coinage has been attributed to a mint in Carnuntum (on the Danube between modern Hainburg and Bratislava in Hungary). His wife was Sulpicia Dryantilla, whose father, Sulpicius Pollio, was an officer under Caracalla.
