Vochol, ce terme déposé, provient de la combinaison de "Vocho", la coccinelle en mexicain, et "Huichol", le nom d'une population indigène du centre-ouest du Mexique"

Cette voiture de marque Volkswagen, modèle 1990, à la forme bien connue, a été recouverte de plus de 2 millions de perles, selon des motifs décoratifs caractéristiques de la culture traditionnelle du peuple Huichol (aigle, cactus sacré, soleil, quatre éléments, dieux et déesses,..).

L'objectif du musée d'art populaire de Mexico a été de mettre en valeur le savoir-faire traditionnel d'artisans huichol à travers un objet culte de la culture industrielle occidentale.
