- The Barnum Hall Theatre was built in 1938 through the Federal Works Project Administration (WPA) by the architectural firm of Marsh, Smith & Powell. [1 ]
- Built in the Streamline-Art Deco design, the hall also served as the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium when it was first built.
