1572 és 1617 között Kölnben adták ki a "Civitates Orbis Terrarum" (A földkerekség városai) című hatkötetes művet latin nyelven, ezt 1618-ban német és francia változat követte. Szerzői George Braun és Franz Hogenberg. A várostérképeken egy belga művész, Georg Houfnagel (1542-1600) neve szerepel a communicavit ("közzétette") megjelöléssel.
