The whole area was made world famous mainly by it's being used by several "western" films particularly those by John Ford, such as Stagecoach, My Darling Clementine and She word a yellow ribbon. Many other more recent films, etc have been made here. The land is part of the Navajo Reservation and it's possible to tour part of the dirt road of the valley floor on an organised tour or in your own vehicle on payment of a fee.Licensing
