Layout of Chamaa Castle (also spelled Chama'a, Chama, or Shama), in Southern Lebanon, some 25 km southeast of Tyre - illustration published in 1884 by French physician, botanist, zoologist and Egyptologist Louis Lortet.
Built in 1116 by the Frankish Crusaders over the remains of Roman-Byzantine buildings and restored in the 18th century by the Shiite dynasty of Ali al-Saghir, it was partly destroyed by Israeli attacks in the 2006 war against Hezbollah.
