Description |
English: Ship on top of 2 Temple Place on the Embankment in London. This was commissioned by Lord Astor the then owner of this building known as "Astor House". It is set high above the machicolated parapets of the building and is a representation of the caravel in which Columbus discovered America. It is the work of J.Starkie Gardner, the well-known English metal worker. Starkie Gardner was responsible for all the metalwork both inside and outside of the building. The ship is in beaten copper |
