Письмо имеет исходящий почтовый штемпель 11 января 1895 года, а также:

  • специальный фиолетовый штемпель "Geborgen aus der / Postladung des untergegangenen / Dampfers Elbe. / Postamt 1 Bremen" (из почтового груза погибшего парохода "Эльба");
  • специальный розовый штемпель "Frei! Marke abgefallen. / Paid! Stamp lost." (оплачено, почтовые марки утеряны, т.е. смыты водой).
В качестве облатки расклеившиеся от воды письма почтовые чиновники запечатывали наклейкой "Kaiserl. Deutsches Postamt / Bremen 1". Письмо имеет штемпеля прибытия Нью-Йорка на обороте. Очень редкое письмо, известно всего несколько экз. Интересный объект мировой почтовой истории.
