Das Landeshauptarchiv Koblenz bestätigt "ein frühes Siegel Friedrichs v. d. Brücke zeigt den gekrönten Löwen. ...In einer Urkunde des Jahres 1220 geht es auch um die Gerichtsbarkeit zu Ollmuth und Kasel, die verpfändet wurden seitens der "Ritter Peter von Merzig und Friedrich von der Brücke". Der Familienzusammenhang ist also eindeutig".
Demnach ist die historische Verbindung derer "von der Brücke" mit der Wappenstifterin erwiesen. Leider konnte die Tingierung weder von Gruber angegeben, noch vom Landeshauptarchiv ermittelt werden. Wegen der Zugehörigkeit von Riveris zu Kurttrier, wurde auf die kurtrierischen Farben zurückgegriffen.
Kapellen- und Ortspatron ist der hl. Cornelius. Sein Attribut, ein Horn, steht im unteren Schild.
