A gall-wasp, Trichilogaster sp, from Australia, that causes galls to develop instead of inflorescences, is highly successful in reducing both the reproductive potential and the vigour of the plant.
The species in the picture is certainly not Acacia longifolia. It probably is Acacia pycnantha.
