Growing on acidic rock above 6,000 feet at Clingmans Dome, Sevier County, Tennessee, USA; collected and identified by Allen C. Skorepa (No. 6027, May 1967); specimen is now in the Lichen Herbarium of the New York Botanical Garden.
Gymnoderma lineare is a rare species that is on the U.S. Endangered Species List.Licensing
