Village of Gyovren is located in South-Central Bulgaria. It is part of Devin Municipality, Smolyan District.
The village of Gyovren is located after the Teshel crossing on the left down the road to the village of Trigrad. A narrow and abrupt road leads to the village. The houses are hidden from the sight of the passing tourists and therefore it is almost incredible for one to come across Gyovren by chance. The only sign of some settlement nearby is the new mosque, at right from the Trigrad clough.
Today population of Gyovren is mainly ethnic Turks, there are also a few Romany families which are very well integrated.
The village keeps many of its old traditions and holidays: Ramazan Bayryam and Kurban Bayryam, Aderlez and many others. There are also dairy farms over the village where milk is processed manually using technologies preserved through the centuries.
