File:Hackfall By Turner.jpg
Watercolour painting "Hackfall near Ripon" by Turner, circa 1816. This is Hack Fall Wood, near Grewelthorpe, North Yorkshire, England. The folly on top of the hill is Mowbray castle, and the other folly below, by the River Ure, is unknown. It could be Fisher's Hall, or perhaps one of the wooden follies which no longer exist.
This is one of a set of four watercolours of Yorkshire, commissioned by Sir William Pilkington of Chevet Hall, Wakefield, Yorkshire.
