File:Jean-Baptise Millet (after Jean-François Millet) - La Grande Bergère Assise.jpg
This is a wood engraving (27.3 x 21.9 cm) c. 1874 by Jean-Baptise Millet after his brother Jean-François Millet. Its strong contour line was the inspiration for Vincent van Gogh's Sorrow (see Letter 216). Van Gogh later made a painting The Shepherdess (after Millet) (F699, JH1838) based on this composition.
