The engraving on the gravestone is of the "AIF" version of the Rising Sun badge. The Rising Sun badge engraving is a version of an Australian Government-owned artwork and this version was first used on a gravestone at the AIF Cemetery, West Terrace, Adelaide, South Australia when the cemetery opened in March 1920.

The government of Australia has declared that the expiration of Crown Copyrights applies worldwide.
