After Hurricane Katrina left Keesler AFB, Miss. without water and power for an undetermined amount of time, students belonging to the 332nd and 335th Training Squadrons at Keesler, AFB, Miss. prepare to be evacuated to Shepard AFB, Texas aboard a C-17 "Globemaster III" from the 58th Airlift Squadron, Altus AFB, Okla. on Sept. 1, 2005. More than 2400 students and non-essential personnel will be evacuated from Keesler AFB. The C-17 was loaded with more than 200 hundred passengers who were cargo straped to the floor of the aircraft for safety.Hurricane Katrina battered the Gulf Coast with wind gusts in excess of 140 miles per hour, flattened buildings and flooded areas from Florida to Louisiana.
