Le Temple Kalameshwara ou Shivalaya est dédié à Shiva, il date de 1220, il a été construit à l'époque de la dynastie Hoysala à Arsikere (Arsikere signifie "le réservoir de la Reine").
La structure architecturale de ce petit temple est complexe. Il possède deux mandapas, l'un ouvert avec un dôme et l'autre fermé, et un sanctuaire (garbhagriha) surmonté d'une tour pyramidale (sikhara).
Le mandapa ouvert est en forme d'étoile à 16 branches, ce qui le rend unique parmi les temples de ce style.
