Phra Prang Sam Yot was built to be a center of Buddhist place for Vajrayana, Mahayana doctrine in the era that the Khmer governed Lawoe or Lopburi. The center one houses the image of the Buddha, sitting under the canopy of serpents’ heads. The prang in the north houses an image of Bodhisattya Awalokitesuan and the prang in the south houses an image of “Prachya Paramita”, wife of Bodhisattya Awalokitesuan.
At the front towards the east is located the wihan that houses a large Buddha statue in subduing mara position dating back to the early Ayutthaya Kingdom in 20th Buddhist century.
