These beautiful formations and mesas are found along highway 163 just east of Monument Valley. We saw so many such sights during our 2-hour search for the attraction, that by the time we had found Monument Valley, it was almost anticlimatic.
When I write that we drove past Monument Valley looking for it, that is really not accurate. We think of Monument Valley as the area where the park headquarters is located. Actually, during much of our long drive we were. technically, in the park. It covers a vast area.
