File:NGC5907 - HST - Judy Schmidt.png
An image comprised of observations made in 1996 by Hubble's venerable WFPC2 camera. This galaxy is kind of famous for being surrounded by an impressive, looping tidal stream structure, which is not visible in this picture since it is a close-up of just the center.

Only two filters were available, and there were plenty of data gaps due to the WFPC2 footprint, but I filled them in with SDSS data which I also used to help generate the green channel, which is a new technique for me. I would have scoffed at the idea in the past because putting low resolution data in the green channel is never a good idea, but in this case it simply influenced the pseudogreen layer slightly in a way that is both subtle and important.
Hat-tip to David Martinez-Delgado for encouraging me to do this picture. He's a big fan of tidal streams.
