File:Nanchang CJ-6 Corner 20060729.jpg

This photo is actually of a Nanchang Haiyan C, owned by a member of the Cascades Warbirds,Gary Bunn, EAA Squadron No. 2 out of Seattle, Washington. The photo was taken at the Fairchild AFB airshow in Spokane, WA. The Haiyan C is a much modified version of the Nanchang CJ-6 trainer. This aircraft was factory built as a photo reconnaissance aircraft and differs significantly from a standard CJ-6 trainer. Most notably are as follows: 345hp Huosai radial engine vs 285hp, 92 gallon fuel capacity vs 42, 4486 lbs gross weight vs 3080 lbs, and many structural differences as the increased weight would suggest. The aircraft you see in this picture was brought to the United States and completely restored by Vector Aviation of Prescott, AZ. It is the only Nanchang Haiyan C in private hands in the world. This particular aircraft was reported to have been used to photo map areas of the Great Wall of China looking for lost portions. Haiyan in Chinese means 'Sea Swallow'. You can see this aircraft at many airshows throughout the United States.
