John Lloyd (1771–1829) on horseback is shown with George Thomas (1786–1859) who holds a horn and otter hunting pole. George Thomas is best known for his mock heroic poems on local events, including ‘The Otter Hunt and the Death of a Roman, a Well-Known Hound’, published in 1817. The poem describes otter hunting in the Camlad, a tributary which flows into the Severn. Lloyd lived at the Court, Abermule.
