P. Giorgio Guzzetta (1682 – 1756), Servo di Dio e Apostolo degli Albanesi di Sicilia, si prodigò nella difesa del rito orientale del suo popolo e avviò un profondo processo di rinnovamento spirituale e culturale, che fornì un sostegno decisivo alla salvaguardia e allo sviluppo del patrimonio degli arbëreshë. Fondatore e ideatore del primo e più antico centro d'albanologia, scopri il più antico testo in lingua albanese conosciuto, il Meshari di Gjon Buzuku, nel 1740. La sua personalità suscita l'interesse in ambito letterario, culturale e religioso ancora oggi. Dal 1934 è in corso la sua causa di beatificazione.
