File:Piddletrenthide, Inscription On Parish Church Tower - Geograph.org.uk - 1347425.jpg
Est pydeltrenth villa in dorsedie comitatu Nascitur in illa quam rexit Vicariatu 1487
(It is in Piddletrenthide, a town in Dorset [where] he was born [and] is Vicar, 1487)
Nicholas Locke was the vicar in that year, so the tower presumably was down to him.
The most remarkable thing about the inscription is the use of Arabic, rather than Roman, numerals for the year: see 1347405.(required by the license)
