File:Pillbox (unique), Ash Vale.JPG

Pillbox, Ash Vale, OS reference SU894527 Brick shuttered reinforced concrete. A one-of-a-kind wrapped around the base of the bridge. Three embrasures face south down the canal. The entrance is bricked up, there is a blast wall in front of the original entrance. There is a similar struture on the other side of the bridge facing north. It is not clear how this was entered and it appears that the two structures are separate. Some of the brick shuttering has been lost.
