File:RKO Backlot - Tall Hotel.jpg
2D image, exported from a 3D model, of a building that once existed, until 1976, on the now demolished RKO Studios backlot called Forty Acres. This particular building, the tallest permanent structure on the backlot, was constructed as the feature set for the 1947 feature film The Long Night as the Allegheny House. It was seen again in the 1949 film noir classic The Set-Up, and later appeared regularly on television's The Andy Griffith Show as Mayberry Hotel. It also appeared on Star Trek's episode of "Miri" in which Captain Kirk and crew find the eponymous character, and later when Spock and security are pelted with rocks from the fire escape above. The same fire escape, which is located on the far side of the structure, is seen also in "The City on the Edge of Forever" where Kirk steals clothes for both he and Spock to blend in with 1930s New York.
Showing a SW and SE view of the building as it once stood, the 3D model was constructed in SketchUp 6.0 in 2008 by Bill Wrigley.
