this place is like the mt. wilson of almaty -- <a href="http://www.rusnatpress.org.uk/rnp-astron.htm" rel="nofollow">www.rusnatpress.org.uk/rnp-astron.htm</a> -- it's open to renting, but will need some repairs
in soviet times it was called GaiSh: government observatory of shteynberg.
