Among the projects, there was the Alto Minho railway, from Braga to Melgaço via Ponte da Barca and Monção; the Vale do Lima Railway, from Viana do Castelo to Lindoso via Ponte da Barca; the Braga to Guimarães Railway; the continuation of the Guimarães Railway to Vidago, via Fafe and Cavez; the Tâmega Railway, from Livração to Cavez; the Douro Marginal Railway, that would connect Rio Tinto to Mosteirô; the Corgo Railway, from Peso da Régua to the Spanish border, serving Vidago and Chaves; the continuation of the Tua Railway from Mirandela to Braganza; the Sabor Railway, from Pocinho to the border via Miranda do Douro; the Côa Railway, also from Pocinho, to Vila Franca das Naves; the Régua to Vila Franca das Naves railway, passing Tarouca and Vila da Ponte, where it would cross with the Foz Tua do Viseu Railway; the Vouga Railway, from Viseu to Espinho, with branches to Aveiro, Tarouca and Mangualde; the Leixões Railway; and the continuation of the Alfândega branch to Leixões.
The caption explains the status of the rail lines in the map, according to the 1900 plan: The continuous line were the railways built and in exploration, the dashed lines were the planned railways, the crosses indicated the railways whose construction would be made later, and the round markers were the rail lines that were considered as been under construction.
