File:Rhamphorhynchus Reconstruction Riou 1863.jpg
Reason: Complete lack of pterosaurian pycnofibres, the real animal didn't have armored plating. Footprints belonged to the horseshoe crab Mesolimulus. DinosaursRoar (talk) 12:50, 26 September 2019 (UTC)

Summary
Description |
English: A reconstruction of the pterosaur Rhamphorhynchus by French illustrator Édouard Riou (1833-1900), as copied by Louis Figuier's (1819-1894) in his book La Terre avant le Déluge (1863). This reconstruction explains fossil tracks in the German Solnhofen Limestone. It was later discovered that the real track maker was the horseshoe crab Mesolimulus. |
