In May 2003, Sean was beginning graduate school to start my M.S. in biology, when a future co-worker gave a presentation at Sean’s college on careers in biology with the federal government. He says: “I was intrigued with his presentation about the Service and asked about volunteering. I began volunteering almost immediately and ended up putting in 240 hours with the Arlington, Texas, Ecological Services Field Office that spring and summer.” He then became a student worker with the office and then a full-time employee in August 2004.
“Needless to say, my volunteering has worked out very well for me. After almost 15 years, I am still with the Arlington ES office and hold the position of Supervisory Fish and Wildlife Biologist. Among other responsibilities, I serve as our office's Volunteer Coordinator and I'm quick to point my personal volunteering story to all of the volunteers our office has had the pleasure of working with.” The photo is from a June 2003 children's fishing event.
