It was carved by Catherine Mawer, and as of 2017 it is in very worn condition. The missing item in the centre of the cornice was a "Tudor flower." The area where the base panel should be is covered up, so that part may be missing. The sepulchre arch above conceals most of the metal memorial inscription panel, which is now almost illegible, the painted and engraved lettering being much worn away. The sepulchre arch carries a quotation in Gothic lettering: "For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive." (Corinthians 15:22).
