File:The Oriental Pearl TV Tower At The Pudong End (36273763372).jpg
Back to our cruise, that's the Pudong side of the river again and in the distance is the famous Oriental Pearl TV Tower. Yes, that's that needle like structure with an onion stuck into it. Standing by the bank of the Huangpu River, the Oriental Pearl TV Tower has been the outstanding landmark of Shanghai since its completion in 1994.
With a height of 468 mtr, it was the tallest structure in China before it was surpassed by the Shanghai World Financial Center in 2007. Now, it is the fifth highest tower in the world. This tower features prominently in pictures of the now famous Shanghai skyline taken from the Bund. More detailed notes about the Oriental Pear TV Tower appear in a subsequent caption. Now I'm not on the Bund itself, but am on a boat near the Bund side of the river. (Shanghai, China, May 2017)
