Opened in 1849 by the South Staffordshire Railway on its line from Lichfield Trent Valley to Dudley, this station is now mainly served by trains from Birmingham to Rugeley.
View north east towards Birchills and Rugeley (and formerly Lichfield). A new shopping centre was built above part of the station in 1980. The line was electrified in 1966, initially only the platform on the far right. The other platforms were electrified in 2018 when the wiring was extended to Rugeley Trent Valley.
