AWM caption : Wau, New Guinea
A Wirraway from No. 4 Squadron RAAF in flames after being blasted and set on fire by a near miss in the Japanese raid at Wau. The crew, Flight Sergeant A. Rodburn and Sergeant A. E. Cole, scrambled from the aircraft only a few seconds earlier and threw themselves flat on the ground. Cole received a minor shrapnel wound in the shoulder.
