First Federal Electoral District Of Tlaxcala
It elects one deputy to the lower house of Congress for each three-year legislative session by means of the first-past-the-post system. Votes cast in the district also count towards the calculation of proportional representation ("plurinominal") deputies elected from the fourth region.
Territory
The district's head town (cabecera distrital), where results from individual polling stations are gathered together and collated, is the city of Apizaco.
It comprises the municipalities of Altzayanca, Apizaco, Atlangatepec, Cuapiaxtla, Cuaxomulco, El Carmen Tequexquitla, Emiliano Zapata, Huamantla, Ixtenco, Lázaro Cárdenas, San José Teacalco, Santa Cruz Tlaxcala, Terrenate, Tetla de la Solidaridad, Tlaxco, Tocatlán, Tzompantepec, Xaloztoc and Zitlaltepec de Trinidad Sánchez Santos. No changes were made to the first district in the 2022 redistricting process; it therefore kept the same configuration it had under the 2017 districting plan.
