Grandview Heights Secondary School
History
Grandview Heights was part of Surrey's plan to construct 10 new schools due to vast immigration, population growth, and the aging of existing school infrastructure. Construction of Grandview Heights Secondary School began in 2017, and was completed in September 2021. It was intended to be completed in September 2020, however, rising constructions costs delayed the school's construction by approximately one year.
The first class graduated one year after it was completed (June, 2023), and for the first year after the schools opening there were no students in the twelfth grade.
Since the schools opening they have faced overcrowding due to the immense population growth. In 2023, less than two years after it was completed, portable classrooms had to be added to keep up with the growing number of students, and more are expected to be added in the coming years.
