Hanover Township is one of 23 townships in Jo Daviess County, Illinois, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 1,201 and it contained 689 housing units.

According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of 56.83 square miles (147.2 km), of which 52.1 square miles (135 km) (or 91.68%) is land and 4.73 square miles (12.3 km) (or 8.32%) is water.
