Jinbu-myeon

Jinbu-myeon (Korean진부면; Hanja珍富面) is a myeon (township) in Pyeongchang county of Gangwon Province South Korea. The myeon is located in northern central part of the county. The total area of Bongpyeong-myeon is 331.14 square kilometers, and, as of 2008, the population was 10,203 people.

History

  • It was called Cheongsong-hyeon during the North and South Kingdom period (Silla), but was renamed Jinbu in the mid-Joseon Dynasty.
  • 10th year of King Gojong of the Korean Empire (1906): Dongguri, Sangni, Hari, Geomun-ri, and Soksari regions were transferred from Gangneung-bu to Pyeongchang-gun.
  • On July 1, 1973, by Presidential Decree No. 5542, Homyeong 2 and 3-ri in Doam-myeon were incorporated into Jinbu-myeon, and Jangpyeong-ri was incorporated into Bongpyeong-myeon.
  • February 15, 1983: By Presidential Decree No. 1127, Yongjeon-ri, Imokjeong-ri, Soksa-ri, Nodong-ri, and Dosari were incorporated into Yongpyeong-myeon, a new myeon.
  • January 1, 1989: Homyeong-ri, Doam-myeon was incorporated into Jinbu-myeon by Presidential Decree No. 1145.
  • October 4, 2003: Songjeong 5-ri was newly established through County Ordinance No. 1726.
