Karabayır, Dargeçit
Karabayır (Kurdish: Zengan, Syriac: Zangan) is a neighbourhood in the municipality and district of Dargeçit, Mardin Province in Turkey. The village is populated by Kurds of the Erebiyan tribe and had a population of 1,020 in 2021.
History
Zangan (today called Karabayır) was historically inhabited by Syriac Orthodox Assyrians. By the time of the Sayfo, the village was inhabited by 30 families all of whom were killed by the Ali Rammo tribe.
